MCP Servers Collection

This repository contains a collection of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that demonstrate various functionality and use cases for the MCP ecosystem. Each server implements specific tools that can be used by MCP clients.

Overview

MCP (Model Context Protocol) provides a standardized way for models to access external tools and resources. These servers implement the protocol to offer various services that can be consumed by MCP-compatible clients.

mcp-calculator-server

A basic calculator server that provides arithmetic operations through MCP tools:

  • Features: Basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Dependencies: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk, zod
  • Usage: cd mcp-calculator-server && npm start

mcp-calculator-sse-server

An enhanced version of the calculator server that uses Server-Sent Events (SSE) for real-time communication:

  • Features: Same arithmetic capabilities as the basic calculator but with streaming responses
  • Dependencies: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk, express, cors, zod
  • Usage: cd mcp-calculator-sse-server && npm start

mcp-weather-server

A server that provides weather information through MCP tools:

  • Features: Weather data retrieval
  • Dependencies: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk
  • Setup: cd mcp-weather-server && npm run build
  • Usage: As a command-line tool: weather

mcp-file-manager-server

A comprehensive file management server that provides various file system operations:

  • Features:
    • List directories
    • Read and write files
    • Delete files
    • Move/rename files
    • Get file metadata
    • Search files using glob patterns
  • Dependencies: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk, glob, zod
  • Setup: cd mcp-file-manager-server && npm run build
  • Usage: cd mcp-file-manager-server && npm start

Common Pattern

All servers in this collection:

  1. Use the MCP SDK (@modelcontextprotocol/sdk)
  2. Implement one or more tools that follow the MCP specification
  3. Use Zod for input validation
  4. Provide specific functionality accessible through a standardized interface

Getting Started

To use any of these servers:

  1. Navigate to the server directory
  2. Install dependencies with npm install
  3. Build the server if necessary (TypeScript-based servers)
  4. Start the server with npm start

Integration with MCP Clients

These servers can be used with any MCP-compatible client, including:

  • AI agents that implement the MCP protocol
  • Web applications that use MCP for accessing external tools
  • Command-line interfaces that support MCP

Contributing

To add a new MCP server to this collection:

  1. Create a new directory with the pattern mcp-{functionality}-server
  2. Implement the server using the MCP SDK
  3. Include appropriate documentation
  4. Update this README with information about the new server

    I've been using the amadeus-mcp-server by BogdanDubenets for several months now, and it has significantly improved our server management processes. The tool is user-friendly, reliable, and supports multiple languages. It integrates smoothly with existing systems, making our workflow more efficient. Highly recommend!
